Located adjacent to Ted Stevens International Airport, overlooking Hood Lake, the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum is dedicated to continuing to “preserve, display, and honor Alaska’s Aviation Heritage.” Given the both distance between Alaska and the Lower 48, as well as the difficult terrain of the state, aviation holds a special place in Alaska’s history, and the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum is the place to learn about that history. The museum displays a number of restored aircraft significant to the aviation history of the state, as well as the restoration hangar itself for visitors. Addition exhibits include multiple theaters, the pilot art gallery, flight simulation exhibits, the Alaska Aviation Heritage Hall of Fame, and the Junior Bush Pilot Training Zone.

The Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum is located at 4721 Aircraft Drive, and is open from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M., seven days per week during the summer, and Wednesday through Sunday during the winter season. Price of admission ranges from $6 - $10, with children, student, senior, and military discounts available. Shuttles to the museum are available from the Ted Stevens International Airport, as well as from many local hotels.
