The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, also known as the “Wayne-Gordon House,” is a member of a triumvirate of buildings in the Juliette Gordon Low Historic District of Savannah, Georgia. Designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1965, the site proudly features the very first Girl Scout Headquarters. Built in the early 1800s for the mayor of the city, the house was then sold to his niece, who was the grandmother of Juliette Gordon Low. Although Juliette spent much of her life in England, she was very fond of Savannah, and after becoming a widow in 1911, decided to found the Girl Scouts of America. Today, numerous troupes of Girl Scouts, as well as general visitors, tour the house annually. Tours are available, and take visitors through the rooms which reflect original Gordon home furnishings and art.
