Julio Prestes Station, located in beautiful Sao Paulo, Brazil, is the home of the Julio Prestes Cultural Center. Part of the city's revitalization efforts, the station is home to the Orquestra Sinfornica do Estado de Sao Paulo and the Sala Sao Paulo, which features a seating capacity of around 1,500 people. Built in the 1990s, the center got its start after complaints about the orchestra not having its own home in this vibrant city. The hall's acoustically-sound design is on par with other world-renowned houses like the Boston Symphonic Hall and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Julio Prestes Station was built in the early- to- mid- 1900s as a main terminal for the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana Railway, which mainly transported the country's coffee crop from inner provinces to this port city.
