Jyväskylä Airport (JYV) is a regional airport that has routes that only go to Helsinki. Being located in the center of the Finnish Lake District, JYV has been an ideal location for the Air Force Academy. This also includes the Supporting Air Operations Wing of the Air Force Academy.

Regrettably, there is no public transportation from the airport to Jyväskylä. This means that only those with someone waiting to pick them up would be able to really use this as an avenue to Jyväskylä, which is 20km north of JYV.

Many of the renovations that were done to JYV, in 2004, have been geared towards efficiency and to the Air Force Academy. This means that there are no long term accommodations at JYV and that is very likely the reason why JYV is only a regional hub to Helsinki.
