The Alaska Law Enforcement Museum shares the history of the Alaska law enforcement agencies with the public, free of charge. The Alaskan law enforcement agencies have the largest and most rugged jurisdiction of any state in the United States, resulting in a colorful history. Situated underneath the 5th Avenue Parking Garage, the Alaska Law Enforcement Museum was opened in 1991, is managed by the Fraternal Order of Alaska State Troopers (FOAST), and includes exhibits displaying a fully restored 1952 Hudson Hornet Alaska State Trooper Patrol Car, authentic uniforms and office memorabilia, a collection of law enforcement patches, a technology timeline, a firearms display, and a display dedicated to Alaska’s first serial killer, Ed Krause. The Alaska Law Enforcement Museum also hosts an annual CSI Forensic Science Camp for middle and high school students.

Located at 245 West Fifth Avenue, the Alaska Law Enforcement Museum is within short walking distance of many Anchorage landmarks, such as the Kimball Building, Town Square Park, the William A. Egan Civic and Convention Center, and the famous Wendler Building. The Alaska Law Enforcement Museum is close to many lodging options, including the Historic Anchorage Hotel, Marriott Anchorage Downtown, Sheraton Anchorage, and the Clarion Suites Hotel Anchorage. The Museum is open from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. Monday through Friday, and Noon until 4 P.M. on Saturday, always free of charge.
