The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is located in Western Australia, Australia. It was formed from the amalgamation of two local government entities – the Town of Kalgoorlie and the Shire of Boulder – on February 1, 1989. Still, it is the Town of Kalgoorlie which was designated as the government seat. The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport, the major regional airport in the State, is also located in the Kalgoorlie portion.

Serviced by Qantas, QantasLink, and Skywest Airlines, the airport has several regular public transport flights that operate daily to and from Adelaide and Perth. Skywest Airlines tried to operate a direct flight from Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport to Melbourne on a thrice weekly basis but lack of patronage forced the airline to stop offering the service. Australian Air Express, an affiliate of Qantas, is the major freight handler of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport.
