Kalmar Airport (KLR) is a domestic airport that is located only 5km west of Kalmar’s downtown. This Swedish town uses KLR as its main means of tourism and as a major access way to Stockholm. KLR also offers some domestic charter flights to other locations in southeastern Sweden and other nearby locations.

Originally KLR was the headquarters to the Swedish Air Force wing F 12 Kalmar. Currently it is owned by Kalmar Municipality and has been geared as a major resource in helping Kalmar become a regional center. With this in mind, KLR has limited resources and is geared in bringing people to the city so that they may be part of the tourism that has enjoyed the lush scenes, superior lodgings, and Baltic atmosphere that is common in Kalmar.
