The Kassel Central Station is situated in the main part of the town of Kassel and is the nerve center of the place. The old Train Station of Kassel is at 3 kms from here but that is no longer functional. The Kassel Central Station sees plenty of commuters pass by every day. There are two wonderful parks called Bergpark Wilhelmshoehe and the Staatspark Karlsaue at 2 and 3 km each. The closest airport to the Kassel Central Station is the Paderborne-Lippstadt at 58 kms. There are very few buildings in the downtown area as this was destroyed in the bombings during the World War II and never restored.
The city of Kassel is connected to the DB network by two stations and hence the traditional Kassel Central Station has been serving as the regional station since the opening of the Speed rail in 1991. Although the Kassel Central Station does not see as many passengers as it used to, it still continues to remain an important travel and transportation link that is absolutely safe for tourists.
Once you are at the Kassel Central Station, there are several tourist spots around at a distance of just 2 to 3 kms. There are the Konigplatz Kassel, and three museums all at a distance of 3 kms from the Kassel Central Station. They are the Bruder Grimm Museum, Museum Brothers, and Kunsthalle Fridericianum. There is the famous Ball House at the Castle Wilhelmshohe at only 2 kms.
