Kaulsdorf is a neighborhood in the district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf in Berlin, Germany. The district has about 19,000 inhabitants.
Kaulsdorf was first mentioned in 1347 in a letter adjoining a gift given to Louis V of Bavaria from Kaland, a monastic brotherhood of Bernau. The place was completely destroyed during the Thirty Year War by acts of war and epidemics. It was incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920. Kaulsdorf was established in 2001 through the merger of the boroughs of Marzahn and Hellersdorf becoming a part of the newly formed district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
Kaulsdorf is served by the S-Bahn train, line S5 at the stop Wuhletal and also by the U-Bahn line U5 at the stations Kaulsdorf-Nord and Wuhletal.
Some of the most beautiful locations and monuments in Kaulsdorf are: the Romanesque Village Church dating back to the 14th century which houses a nice museum today and the Modern Catholic Church of St. Martin built in 1929-1930 with its 26 oval windows and amazing mosaic wall. The best shopping areas in the Berlin, closest to Kaulsdorf are: Kurfürstendamm and Friedrichstraße. The so-called "Berlin's Balcony," the only large area of vacant office spaces in Berlin is located South of the jointly controlled route of highways 1 / 5, on the border with Mahlsdorf.
