More than merely a park, Kelley Park is a vast array of activities for those visitors or residents of the San Jose area. Located in East San Jose, the park includes your usual touches, like lawns, pathways, wooded areas, and picnic areas, but is more well-known for its special features.

Within Kelley Park's 156 acres, there is the History Park at Kelley Park, the Portuguese Historical Museum, and the Viet Museum. There is also a Japanese Friendship Garden, as well as a family-friendly park and zoo, known as Happy Hollow Park and Zoo.

Happy Hollow Park and Zoo consists of a number of exhibits featuring endangered species, including wallabies, a jaguar, and lemurs, as well as an area where it's possible to pet various animals, including a donkey, a number of miniature horses and pygmy goats, and a zebu. There is also a section of the zoo with kid-friendly rides and a play area.

The Viet Museum and Portuguese Historical Museum both have their own buildings, in which collections are housed focusing on the history of both groups in California, particularly in the San Jose Area. The Portuguese History Museum is a replica of one of the first important Portuguese buildings that was built in San Jose.

Hours for the various museums and zoos in Kelley Park vary, but most are open daily during regular business hours, with extended hours on special occasions. A number of East San Jose hotels are just a short drive, including the Sainte Claire Hotel, the Howard Johnson Express, and the Travelers Rest Motel.
