In the centre of Tralee, the Kerry County Museum is housed in the Ashe Memorial Hall of fine architecture. Rich local history of Kerry is recorded, collected and displayed in this museum. This award winning museum started in 1992 and at present, has a total of more than 4000 items on display to tell the heritage and culture of Kerry from the Stone Age to modern times. A favorite part is the “Geraldine Tralee” wherein visitors can experience what it’s like living during the Medieval Times. There are tours available and their information guides comes in different languages like German, French, Spanish, English and Italian. The museum has a coffee shop that also offers lunch. The museum is also accessible for disabled visitors. Admission fee is 8€ for adults and 5€ for children. Discounts are given to families, senior citizens, students and those in groups. The Kerry County Museum is open every Tuesdays to Saturdays (9:30am-5pm) from January-April and Nov-December. From May to October, the museum is open daily. During bank holidays and weekends, it is open every Sundays and Mondays from 10am to 5pm. There are many accommodation choices close to the Kerry County Museum.
