There are some people who prefer to check out bazaars for unique and affordable finds, and when in Cairo, the best place to check out is the Khan el-Khalili. Khan el-Khalili is a known souk located in the Islamic district of Cairo. It has been one of the main attractions where tourists and locals alike often flock to for good finds and other discoveries.

The souk has been in the said location for a long time. It dates back to 1382, when Emir Djaharks el-Khalili created a huge caravanserai under the Burji Mamluk Sultan Barquq.

Currently, there are a lot of shops as well as coffeehouses, street food vendors, and restaurants that can be found in the souk. Most tourists find the place quite a dose of culture since a lot of history can be found on the Khan el-Khalili area. However, tourists and shoppers in general are cautioned when traipsing in Khan el-Khalili as there have been terrorist attacks as of 2005 and again in 2009.
