The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is one of the main venues of Philadelphia’s Avenue of the Arts. Opened in 2001, the center is the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Philadanco and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. The Kimmell Center for the Performing Arts also hosts several events, programs and shows throughout the year. Theatergoers will be especially interested in its Broadway Series, which brings Broadway plays and musicals to Philadelphia year round. Free events are also often held at the center as a way to give back to the surrounding community.

Kimmel is not only appreciated for its shows and events, but also for its architecture. This is so much the case that the center is open seven days a week and offers free tours of the facilities. All of the halls and theaters within the center are under a distinctive vaulted glass ceiling. Verizon Hall, Perelman Theater and the Dorrance H. Hamilton Roof Garden are all distinctive and interesting parts making up the center’s unique whole.
