The Kindel Furniture Company is a family owned corporation with more than 100 years of history that is devoted to creating traditionally styled furniture that uses hand-carving, bench-assembly, and hand-finishing. While by far from the largest employer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Kindel Furniture Company is one of the most prestigious firms in the area. The precursor of the present company was founded by Charles J. Kindel in 1904. By patenting a number of convertible bed products, he created a valuable foundation upon which the company grew. In 1912 the company moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kindel offers ready-made furniture and also custom pieces, as well as refurbishing heirloom furniture.

Many international brands choose Kindel as their US production center for making accurate historical reproductions, including the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, and the Irish Georgian Society, Varney & Sons Collection which includes the Dorothy Draper Collection, and Mount Vernon. While the craftsmen are busy at work in the Kindel workshop, visitors cannot drop in and Kindel does not sell direct. Rather, lovers of fine furniture should buy from an authorized dealer.
