Hotels near Kitai-gorod, Moscow, Russia .

Kitai-Gorod is a business district in central Moscow, located in a largely rebuilt medieval wall. It is separated from Kremlin by the Red Square. It has been managed directly by the central administrative district since 2003 and it now has the status of municipal district.
The etymology of the name has not been yet made clear. Gorod is the Russian word for city, and Kitai is the Russian word for Cathay (China). Folk etymology is therefore Chinatown. Others believe that Kitai derives from an old word referring to the piles of wood used (called ????, kita) at the construction of the walls of the neighborhood.
The most famous and most visited monuments and landmark locations are: Street Nikolskaya, the Red Squar, Lubyanka Square, Street Ilyinka, central artery of the neighborhood, the old British Embassy, the residence of the Romanovs, Nicholas Tower of the Kremlin, the Lower Trading Rows, the Theophaniekirche, the Russian Constitutional Court, the Finance Ministry and the Superior Court of the Russian Federation and the Gum shopping center, a neo-Russian building of 1893
There are also 17 churches and chapels in the territory of Kitai-Gorod, the most famous being St. Basil Cathedral in Moscow. Here, one of the oldest surviving buildings in Moscow outside the Kremlin, the so-called English Court can be found. The Ploshchad' Revolyutsii and Teatral'naya are the available underground railway stations in the are.
Metropol, a five star hotel, not far from Kremlin is the coziest and located accommodation spot in the district, prices starting from RUB 9440 per night.
