Kota Kinabalu, fondly called as KK, is the capital of Malaysia. This highly developed part of the city is quite near the coast of the South China Sea while Mount Kinabalu – from whom the city got its name – lies to its back. Given these, KK is a picturesque place to be. This is something that the Government should also know – thus, the KK Esplanade was created.

The KK Esplanade is a long stretch of open area located near the coast and is surrounded by many famous landmarks in Kota Kinabalu; thus, it is not surprising that the area is a favorite destination of both locals and tourists. This is where people go to relax, take up photography, watch people, or just hang out.

There are numerous benches provided for strollers as well as a wooden platform for viewing the beaches and the nearby islands. There are also statues of marine life all over the KK Esplanade.

KK Esplanade is located close to many hotels – some of these are the Le Meridien Hotel, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Best Western Kinabalu Daya Hotel, and Beverly Hotel. Other attractions located nearby include the Sabah State Museum & Heritage Village, Likas Sport Complex, Signal Hill Observatory, and the Sabah State Mosque.
