The Kota Kinabalu City Mosque is located in the capital city of Malaysia – Kota Kinabalu. After the Sabah State Mosque, it is the second main mosque in the city. It was built in 1997 and opened on February 2, 2000.

The Kota Kinabalu City Mosque is a large mosque built to accommodate 12,000 worshippers at any given time; it sites on 2.5 acres of area along the Likas Bay. It was built on a man-made lagoon which makes the mosque look like it is merely floating on water. To add to the effect, the domes and roofs of the building are painted in blue to match the color of the skies.

Attractions in the city include the Signal Hill Observatory, Tun Mustapha Tower, the Sabah State Museum, Kota Kinabalu City Bird Sanctuary, Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Atkinson Clock Tower, and the Museum of Islamic Civilisation. Hotels in the locality include the Beverly Hotel, the Jesselton Hotel, and Novotel Kota Kinabalu 1Borneo.
