Kungsportsavenyn (Avenue de la Porte Royale) is more commonly called Avenyn (Avenue) is the main street in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The street was created as a result of an international urban planning competition in the 60's and 70's of the nineteenth century. It is about one kilometer long, and it is similar in many ways to the Paris Champs-Elysees. This wide avenue where trams circulate, displays a range of many beautiful shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Avenyn is a nice shopping street in Gothenburg that runs from Kungsportsplatsen to Götaplatsen. It is a festive street and a parade housing street especially in summer time.
The most visited landmarks in the area are: the Universeum, Liseberg, Casino Cosmopol, the Göteborg Cathedral, the Antique Halls, Götaplatsen, Gustav Adolfs Torg, the Gothia Towers and the Christiane Church Göteborg. Very beautiful museums are situated in this same area. Such are: Röhsska Museum, Hasselblad Center or the Göteborg City Museum. The most popular areas around Kungsportsavenyn are Brunnsparken and the Fish Market and the most famous arenas : Scandinavium and Ullevi.
