The Albuquerque Aquarium takes a look at marine life from the Rio Grande down to the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico. It explores various types of creatures living in different parts of the water—fresh water riverine, estuarine, surf zone, shallow waters and deep ocean, for example, are all represented at the aquarium. There’s an eel tunnel, luminous jellyfish, seahorses and a 285,00 gallon tank containing brown, blacktip, nurse and sandtiger sharks swimming alongside sea turtles, eels and spectacularly bright reef fish.

The Alburquerque Aquarium is open every day except for major holidays. During the summer it opens from 9Am-5PM on weekdays and 9AM-6PM on weekends. Winter hours are from 9AM-5PM daily. Admission costs range from $3-$7. Combination tickets including admission to the Zoo and Botanic Garden as well as a train ride are available for $12 or $5 for seniors and children.
