The Kurfürstendamm (colloquially called Ku'damm) is the 3 ½-kilometer main road in the Berlin district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Germany. The Kurfürstendamm is the tourist shopping street in Berlin
The Kurfürstendamm was constructed in 1542 in a swampy area, then by Prince Joachim II and served in the beginning, as a bridle path for the princes. It connected the castle town with a hunting lodge in Grunewald. The idea of turning this into a wide avenue, in 1870, belonged to the architect Johann Anton Wilhelm von Carstenn-Lichterfelde. During the Second World War it was almost completely erased.

Today it has turned into an alley with several rows of luxury stores and various boutiques. In Berlin, it is called the German Champs Elysees, although less broad and much longer. With its beautiful buildings, the street is fast becoming an important and luxurious shopping mall with many famous cafés (Café des Westens Schillin Café, Café Kranzler - points of encounter for writers, actors, intellectuals), theaters, cabaret (Kabarett der Komiker , Nelson-Theater, Kabarett Größenwahn), Variétés and Cinema.

The closest airport is Tegel and the nearest train station is Zoologischer Garten. The most famous attractions in this location are: Siegessäule, New Kranzlereck, Savignyplatz, Castle Bellevue, Gedächtniskirche, Castle Charlottenburg and Chancellor's Garden.
