The Kuwait Towers are three towers located in Kuwait City, Kuwait. These towers are the most well known landmark of the city. Each of these towers are made up of reinforced concrete and steel – with the balls covered in 55,000 plates of Chinese steel in 8 different colors. Designed by Sune Lindström and Malene Björn and built by Energoprojekt of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, the towers were opened to the public in March 1979.

The main tower stands at 187 meters and is the tallest of the three; it serves as a restaurant, water tower, and a viewing deck with a sphere that completes a full turn every half hour. The second tower stands at 145.8 meters; it serves as a water tower. The third tower is used for all the equipment required to control the flow of electricity in the towers and to illuminate the two much larger towers.

Like many structures in Kuwait, the towers had substantial damage during the Iraqi occupation. Today, some parts of the Kuwait Towers – specifically the viewing sphere – are again open to the public during weekends from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
