The Kyalami Racetrack is a motor racing circuit located in Gauteng, South Africa. Because of recent real estate developments in the area around the race track, Kyalami is now considered as a suburb of Gauteng. “Kyalami” literally means “my home” in Zulu (a national language in South Africa).

The Kyalami Racetrack was opened in 1961. Since then, it has become a preferred host to major sporting events such as the Grand Prix, World Superbike, Moto GP, South African Grand Prix, and Formula One.

Then, in the 1990s, the racetrack saw several modifications in the name of commercial development. This led to the racetrack downgrading from one of the fastest circuits to one narrow, twisted ribbon-like track. It was quickly abandoned by Formula One after just 2 races. Further modifications were done on the field to now include a new Pit lane and other changes.

Famous as it is, the Kyalami Racetrack has several hotel neighbors within 5 kilometers – Holiday Inn Express Woodmead, Leaves Exclusive Guest House, and Mercure Hotel Midrand among others.
