La Gomera Airport is close to the village of Alajero around 2 miles from the Gomera islands. The runway was built in 1994 but officially opened in 1999. The airport can only take turbo-prop planes, and then only in daylight, as the runway is short. The main flights are between Tenerife and Gran Canaria . The runway is located where it is to avoid disturbing the Garajanay National Park, but even so, due to the volcanic landscape, extensive embankments have had to be built at either end of the runway.

Adeje is a city at the southwest of the island of Tenerife in the Canary Isles, a popular destination for UK tourists. It lies 90 km southwest of the capital, on the coast and is becoming a suburb of Tenerife Sur. It is linked to the capital by TF1 motorway, and has a lively nightlife.

There are numerous tourist hotels in the area, but the Sheraton La Calera Resort and Spa (www.starwoodhotels.com) is a large hotel complex, which offers conference facilities as well as all modern facilities expected from a large resort.
