University of Alcala is a small but well-reputed university located in the city of Alcala de Henares, Spain. It was founded in the year 1499 and is part of a long rich Spanish history.

In the 19th century, this university fell victim to political turbulence and after being damaged in the revolution was moved to the city of Madrid. It was only in 1977 that this university was re-opened in its birth city of Alcala de Henares.

This university has managed to retain its traditional essence and spirit with which it was started and has managed to diffuse with the modern times. So it is a perfect blend of the ancient and modern times.

The main architecture of university buildings is 15th century, and the university was designated as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1998.
