La Vierge Winery is located in Hermanus – right in the Heaven and Earth Valley – of South Africa. Originally owned by the Johnson family, it was purchased by Peter Clarke in the middle of 2005. Extensive renovations were done to increase the winery’s capacity from 150 to 300 tons, change its cellars and other structures, and add a new wine tasting facility.

La Vierge Winery, which also means “The Virgin,” is created around the Garden of Eden theme so that its label, wine names, motto, and the overall appeal of the vineyards and winery have designs rich in this symbolism. For instance, the label shows Eve holding a serpent and Adam holding an apple. The winery also goes on Oscar Wilde’s “The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it”.

La Vierge Winery produces the following wines – Sauvignon blanc; the Temptation range which are the Sauvignon blanc, Rose, and Syrah Mourvedre; and the Des Dieux Sauvignon blanc.

The winery has a restaurant and Champagne Verandah which can both turn into a classy venue for special occasions or intimate meetings. Visitors to the winery can find accommodation close by and some of these are the Marine Square Luxury Holiday Suites, 16 Reasons Guest House, and Baleia Guest Lodge.
