Originally reserved for the exclusive use of women, in order to preserve modesty, Ladies Mile is now a more relaxed mix of young families, the elderly, watersports enthusiasts and the Beautiful People – all in various states of undress.

Although fully nude bathing is frowned upon, this part of Cyprus is much more European than it's Northerly, Turkish-controlled, counterpart. Ladies Mile is popular with topless bathers, as are most of the beaches in this idyllic part of the world.

Ladies Mile is frequented by families because of its safety. It's geographic positioning means that there are very few strong tidal currents, and the sandy bottom stays level and shallow. Basically a large salt-water pool, Ladies Mile lets the little ones paddle without risk. The fact that the water is a completely clear turquoise blue doesn't hurt either.

As well as the beach, the area is known for its seafood restaurants that serve their diners on wide terraces to allow maximum exposure to the sea breezes.

Ladies Mile is 15 minutes drive from the Limassol town centre and here – like everywhere else in Cyprus – you can find plenty of places to stay. All hotels in Cyprus tend to be of a very high standard, with all staff speaking at least two languages.
