Twelve miles up the Kennmare road from the town of Killarney, Ireland lies the stopping
point known as Ladies View. Upon visiting the site in 1861, Queen Victoria's ladies-in-
waiting became overwhelmed by the beauty of the view and the spot was thereafter
named for them. From this magnificent site up on the mountain, visitors can see the Gap
of Dunloe, Purple Mountains, and MacGillicuddy Reeks as well as the three lakes of
Killarney, Derrycunnihny Oak Woods, and the Eagle's Nest. This view can bring in
quite a crowd, so one shouldn't expect the beauty of the vista to be taken in with much
