Lagiewniki is part of the ninth district of Krakow, in Poland, about 4 kilometers from Old Town. It is famous due to Saint Sister Faustyna, who is buried in the church of St. Joseph, built in the 19th century. A special Papal Train – Pociag Papieski goes from Krakow Train Station to the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy and other places connected to John Paul II. The Sanctuary is one of the most popular pilgrimage places the country. Every year 2 million people visit it. The convent runs a boarding school, senior schools and is home to a novitiate. The new basilica was consecrated by Pope John Paul II. The building has a 77-meter tower which offers a breathtaking view of Krakow. In front of it, there is a 4.5 meter-tall statue of the Pope releasing a dove with his right hand and holding a cross in his left hand. Lorenzo Hotel is situated close to the Sanctuary and thus, is the ideal starting point for a sightseeing tour. The more comfortable, new Sympozjum Hotel is situated close to the Sanctuary, near Jagiellonian University Campus.
