Many of the best parks in Zurich lie around the lower side of Lake Zurich. During the summer month many people come here to enjoy a picnic, watch the boats sailing by or even take a ferry trip around the lake itself. Most of Zurich’s gardens and parks are open daily from 11 AM until 7 PM and the admission is free.

Zürichhorn is one of the most populat lakeside parks in Zurich. It is famous for its Chinese Garden, which honors the twinned city of Kunming. With fish-filled ponds, bridges, ornate pavilions, lanterns, maples and bamboo, the Chinese Garden is especially beautiful in the spring, when the many pink cherry trees bloom. Autumn is also a good time to visit, when the maples quickly adorn vivid coats of fall colors. Another attraction in the summer months is the outdoor swimming pool.

The Bürkliterrasse was open in 1887 is a great place to sit and relax under the trees. In clear water, visitors can enjoy marvelous views across the lake to the Alps. Since 1952 the terrace has been graced with a sculpture by Hermann Hubacher, which represents Zeus in the form of an eagle and his beautiful lover Ganymede

Eden Au Lac was built in 1909 and has been the host to an international clientele for already a century. It enjoys a great location on Zurich’s elegant Utoquai. Most rooms include a balcony or terrace with views of Lake Zurich, the city and the distant Alps. The rates at this hotel start from 200 Euros per night.
