Lambeth is also referred to as Waterloo because of the railway station separating it from the River Thames, in London, United Kingdom. The Museum of Garden History was the first museum dedicated to the history of gardening. There are plenty of parks and green areas in Lambeth, like Kennington Park and Streatham Park. Streatham has an ice rink and bowling alley and the Oval Cricket Ground. Clapham Art gallery, situated in Clapham Common, is specializing in discovering and promoting young artists. Most of the exhibits are paintings, but video, photography, sculpture and performance are well represented as well. Beaconsfield also displays contemporary art in a building that used to be the school that Charlie Chaplin attended. The Morley Gallery, part of Morley College is opened in an old pub building and displays up to twelve exhibition a year, one of which containing the work of students at Morley College. Exhibits include printmaking, textiles, sound art, sculpture and photography. Florence Nightingale Museum is located at St. Thomas’ Hospital and displays a collection of pieces that had belonged to Florence Nightingale, illustrating her life and work. The Imperial War Museum covers the conflicts where Britain and the Commonwealth were involved starting with World War I up to the present days. You can go on a backstage tour of the National Theatre and discover the history of the building, visit the auditoriums, backstage areas and the workshops were props are created. London Eye or the Millennium Wheel is the world’s highest observation wheel. Up to 25 people can fit into each of the wheel’s capsules and the ride lasts half an hour. You can enjoy views of the streets and churches of South London from Brockwell Hall, a Georgian Mansion, whose tearooms offer alfresco dining. Lower Marsh is a daily market combined with a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. Opposite Big Ben, the London Aquarium takes you to an interactive journey along the Great Oceanic Conveyor. The walkway glass tunnel is where you can stroll under a Tropical Ocean.
