Lambton Quay is more popularly known as the Beach Street in Wellington in New Zealand. It is one of the four main districts or quarters that divide the city of Wellington. The Lambton Quay is the heart of the city as it is located in the central business district of the area. The Quay is the site of the original settlement of colonization in 1840.

It was once known merely as Beach Street because the waters from the foreshore would usually reach across the road and into the streets of the opposite side. The area is named after John Lambton, the First Earl of Durham. Hew was also the chairman of directors of the New Zealand Company.

Many sights and attractions are found in the area of Lambton Quay. It is one of the most visited areas for tourists. Attractions include the Wellington Waterfront, The Queens Wharf, Arena Aquatic Centre, The Wellington Cable Car Museum, The Begonia House –Wellington Botanic Garden, Otaki Forks, Civic Square, Nga Manu Nature Reserve and The Te Marua Lakes Lookout.
