On this small island oasis in the center of the lively city of Stockholm lies Långholmen
island. While between the 17th century and 1974 the island was home to a prison, it is
now a respite from the busy streets of the surrounding city. Now visitors to the city as
well as locals can use the island for its jogging trails and beaches, museums and cafes. It
is also among Stockholm's oldest shipyards, Mälarvarvet. Just across Långholm's Bridge
is Stockholm's many theaters, shops and cafes.
For unique accommodations visitors to the island have the opportunity to spend a night in
jail, or at least an old jail converted into a hotel and museum.
