Langkawi International Airport is located at the Padang Matsirat, Langkawi, Malaysia. It is only 8 kilometres from the beautiful resorts of Pantai Cenang and 20 kilometres from Kuah. It is also only an hour drive to the main city in Kuala Lumpur.

Originally, the airport was just a long landing strip of runway to an aircraft that can accommodate a maximum of 20 passengers per trip. Only in the mid-90’s that the airport was completely converted into a world class international airport equipped with modern facilities. It was fully restored to cater to the increasing business activities in tourism.

Langkawi International Airport formally started its operations in 1987 and quickly became a tourist attraction by itself because of the Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace Exhibition. The world recognized it as a venue for aerospace events and activities related to the aviation industry. Performances held at the airport are open to the public for viewing.

The airport is proud of its long terminal. It has a runway that can accommodate B747 aircrafts. More or less 2 million passengers can be accommodated at a specific period of time plus 41,837 other aircraft operations. There are taxis, shopping arcades, ATM machines, banks, restaurants and other convenient shops situated inside the airport.
