Established in the Central Area neighborhood of Seattle in 1969, the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center is a performing art center specializing in African American performing arts and cultural legacies. The center became a part of the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department in 1972, and is housed in the former Synagogue of Chevra Bikur Cholim. The building is listed as a historical landmark on the National Registry.

While the cultural entertainment and educational offerings of the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center are vast, especially notable amongst them is the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, which spans none days and features film screenings, workshops, filmmaking events, and various other community festivities. The center is within walking distance of the campus of Seattle University and Judkins Park, and a short drive from Lake Washington.

Located at 104 17th Avenue South in Seattle, the Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center is open Monday through Friday, from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M.
