Las Vegas Natural History Museum, a not-for-profit organization which aims to educate children and families about natural sciences, opened in July 1991. The urge for a museum stemmed from local citizens’ respect for the local habitat and their belief that a space dedicated to those traditions was necessary. While early on, the museum operated with materials on loan, it has since acquired a collection valued in the millions of dollars.

Visitors to the museum will be wowed by the prehistoric life gallery, the international wildlife gallery, the African galleries, the marine life gallery and others. The museum is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm and closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and students and $4 for children ages 3-11.
