Kaftanzoglio Stadium

Kaftanzoglio Stadium is also known as the Alexandre Park. It is located in Thessaloniki, Greece and is the second largest city in Greece which was founded in 315 BC by the King Cassander of Macedon.

The stadium was built by the donations of the Kaftanzoglou Foundation. It was also the largest stadium during the 1960’s and 1970’s, but was upgraded in 2000 and now has a capacity of 28,000 people. In 2002 the stadium began reconstruction for the 2004 Olympics and was reopened in April of 2004. The 2004 Olympic Games was held right here in the stadium.

In the surrounding area of the stadium 40 hotels, spas near the harbor, a 16th century white tower, Hippodrome square, which was once the Greek Chariot riding stadium, museums, waterfronts, cafes, folklore, bars clubs, and theatres can be found. The stadium is easy accessible. To get to the stadium take Makedonomachon to Leoforos Ochi and turn left. Then bear right on to road. Take the right toward Triandria and go straight on Katsimid and the turn right onto Agiou Dimitriou.
