Alexandrovska Street is the main shopping district in the city of Burgas, which is the second largest city and seaside resort in the country of Bulgaria. The street runs north from the city's railway station and crosses the Saint John of Rila Church and the University of Burgas. Alexandrovska Street is primarily a pedestrian street, however, there are still a number of cars that drive through the street every once in a while. Many people, particularly students, would often be found grouping underneath the clock situated on the corner of Alexandrovska Street and Aleko Bogoridi Street, or would be making their way down the street on bicycles. Aside from the many stores that sell original and branded clothes and accessories, Alexandrovska Street is also home to the Monument to the Soviet Soldier, which is a very popular tourist attraction. The monument was erected to serve as a symbol of the friendship between Russia and Bulgaria after Russia came to the aid of Bulgaria in defeating the Turks in the Battle at Shipka Pass.
