The Allard Pierson Museum is the archaeological museum of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and was named after the first professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam; Allard Pierson.

However it wasn't until 1932 that the museum was founded by Allard Pierson's son Jan Lodewijk. Establishing the Allard Pierson Foundation, Jan Lodewijk provided the antiquities his father collected on his Mediterranean travels, during the years 1877 to 1895, for research and training.

Upon entering the museum visitors can enjoy the ancient artifacts of ancient Egypt, the Near East, the Greek World, Etruria, and the Roman Empire. They will also witness a permanent display of art objects and utensils which date from 4000 BC till 500 AD, which illustrate an impression of the everyday life in the ancient world.

Opening hours to the museum are Monday to Friday 10am - 17:00 and Saturday to Sunday 13:00 - 17:00. Adult admission is €6.50; Children from 4 to 16 and Senior citizens admission is €3.25, while Students with a valid ID card go free.

Public transport in Amsterdam consists of bus and tram lines as well as the abundant of cyclists. Bus and tram lines are operated by Gemeentelijk Vervoerbedrijf (GVB), Connexxion and Arriva. Passengers travelling by train from the airport will arrive at Amsterdam Central Station in 20 minutes. A single ticket will cost €3.60. Airport shuttles are also available by Connexxion. They depart every 10 minutes with services to over 100 hotels throughout the city. Tickets cost €11.00 for single and €17.50 for a return.
