Almelo Station

Almelo Station was opened on October 18, 1865 on the line Almelo – Salzbergen, located in Bergen, Netherlands.

The first stone was laid on May 13, 1865 by Minister Thorbecke. The emplacement of the station was partly along the Overijssel Canal. In 1881 the railroad Zwolle - Wierden - Almelo opened. On October 1, 1906 the railroad was opened to Mariënberg. In 1907 the station was thoroughly renovated and received its current island platform. Almelo in 1962 was his third and current station building, the place where the island platform actually remained. The design is signed by K.van der Gaast and J.H. Baas.
Bus services are provided by Connexxion and Syntus, which collectively operate under the name of Twente. Buses connect the station to the various districts and places in Twente Almelo and eastern Salland. The closest airports are: Twente-Enschede, Münster-Osnabrück and Eelde and the nearest train station is Station Almelo de Riet, located 1.5 km away.
