The National Portrait Gallery of Australia is a modern building, situated in the Parliamentary precinct of Canberra. Opened to the public on the 4 December 2008, the Gallery displays a collection of portraits of people who have shaped Australia and who continue to shape our nation. The Gallery also has spaces for a number of temporary exhibitions, as well as public areas including a café, shop, function room and small theatre.
