Alte Oper, also known as Old Opera House is an ancient building located in Frankfurt, Germany.

It is a beautiful area itself with multitudes of hotels, skyscrapers, and museums. No one could run out of things to do here, definitely a place to visit and enjoy the history of world standing right in front of them.

Alte Oper was originally built in 1880 as an Opera house. The first concert was held there in October 20 of 1880. The Opera house was destroyed near the end of the Second World War and rebuilt again to its original state in 1952. It is now known as ‘Germany’s most beautiful ruin. In December of 1978 the topping out ceremony was held to recognize the beauty of the building.

People gathered by the hundreds on August of 1981 to see the Pegasus statue being lowered. Watchers have reported this to be one of the most amazing things to watch.

There are so many different things surrounding Alte Oper that include museums, churches, skyscrapers, hotels, old ruins, and ancient buildings. There have been warnings of robbers posing as policeman and robbing tourists of their money. They advise tourists to be careful when walking in the main shopping areas of the city.

Alte Oper is located right off of Reuterweg. The place is easy accessible by train using U-Bahn line U6/U7 and then S-Bahn Taunusanlage.
