Altstadt-Lehel is a borough of the city of Munich that is comprised of the districts Altstadt and Lehel. Being in the center of Munich makes Altstadt-Lehel one of the oldest parts of any city in Germany. Much of the building and the scenes have been around for centuries and gives visitors an understanding of the history of both the city of Munich and the rich Germanic culture.

Having Lehel (one of the oldest parts of the original town) and Altstadt (one of the first expansions of the city) together gives a snapshot of the evolution of the city. Modern development sits easily beside centuries-old buildings and commercial offices and residential areas are equally likely to be found in a three-year old building as in one that is more like three centuries old.

Altstadt-Lehel is more geared towards tourism and lacks a high local population. This is deliberately done by the local city council, to preserve the history in this borough.
