American River Parkway is a twenty-three mile stretch of nature and recreation areas within the Sacramento city limits. Over 5 million visitors pass through one of the park’s mane areas every year, to enjoy the fishing, boating, rafting, picnicking, running, hiking golfing and many other activities available along this picturesque riverfront stretch.

The Ancil Hoffman Park covers nearly 400 acres and features a golf course, multiple trails for hiking and spots for picnics. It is open every day during daylight hours. Visit the Effie Yeaw Nature Center for Hoffman Park orientation. The William B. Pond Recreation Area is another popular spot along American River Parkway, with a large pond for fishing and a number of trails. The Sunrise Recreation areas give visitors the opportunity to launch boats into the river. Among many more activities, the park is the site of a half-marathon every year.
