The American Swedish Institute of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a historic house, museum and cultural center dedicated to the preservation and study of the role of Sweden and Americans of Swedish history. Founded in 1929, its programs include the Svea Club, a Swedish language society and the Turnblad Mansion Museum.

The institute is housed in a turn-of-the-century 33-room mansion built by Swedish immigrants. Several permanent and changing exhibits are on display at the institute throughout the year. One of the most famous exhibits is “A Nordic Christmas,” which brings together of the local Nordic American community to decorate five rooms of the mansion for the holiday season.

The American Swedish Institute is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Sundays, the museum is open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission prices are $6.00 for adults with discounts for senior citizens, children and students.
