Amon Carter Museum was established in 1961 and is located in Fort Worth, Texas and initially housed the personal collection of Amon G. Carter, creator and publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The collection consisted mainly of works by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, but over the years has greatly expanded to include pieces from such renown masters as Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keefe, John Singer Sargent and Thomas Eakins. Including works by these and many other prominent artists, the museum also features an impressive collection of American photography. The mission of the museum is to collect, preserve and exhibit the finest examples of American art.

The museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays.
