Acapulco's main attraction is of course its beaches, which are mostly in the bay area fronting the main boulevard (La Costera). Aside from beaches, an unmissible sight is watching the La Quebrada Cliff Divers do their thing. Zócalo, Acapulco's town square, is a cool, shady and peaceful spot during the daytime, while Laguna de Tres Palos is a fresh-water lagoon that's good for wildlife and engaging in water sports. For monuments, go to the Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace), located on a hillside 1,200 feet above sea level, and El Fuerte de San Diego (an 18th-century Spanish fortress turned museum).
