South Africa)
or Addo accommodation? If there’s one thing worth seeing in Africa, it’s elephants, and if you want to see elephants, and a whole lot more besides, then Addo is the place to do it. The park itself is a large, natural section of land, just outside the city of Port Elizabeth, and, as the name Addo Elephant Park suggests, it’s a haven for elephants, along with many other species of wildlife, and of course, it’s a paradise for birds, and bird watchers. Just outside the park lies the picturesque holiday village of Colchester, on the mouth of the Sundays River. Since it’s only three kilometers from the southern entrance to the gate, it’s the perfect place to stay if you don’t plan to stay in the park itself. Also within the park’s jurisdiction are one hundred and forty two square meters of towering sand dunes, some reaching heights of up to one hundred and fifty meters. Two species of animal, namely the Dune grasshopper, and the hairy footed gerbil are found nowhere else in the world, and the forested section of the park, adjacent the dunes, known as Woody Cape, is filled with diverse birdlife. So, whether it’s animals or birds large or small that you want to see in Africa, Addo is a great place to do it. - Browse the Addo Map or compare Addo accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
