or Agen accommodation? Agen, a lovely French commune, can be found in the Lot-et-Garonne department in Aquitaine of south-western France. The town sits on the River Garonne which facilitates opportunities for boating, fising and swimming. Agen has several leisure facilities. There is a billiard and bowling centre, a hippodrome and horse riding areas, numerous golf and tennis courts, facilities for archery, karting and many swimming pools chiefly the Aqua Sud Centre. A number of cultural and historical sights can be found in Agen. The old town is filled with medieval buildings. There is the 12th century Agen Cathedral dedicated to Saint Caprasius with an unusual architecture and the Saint Hilaire church with its unique statues. The Fine Arts Museum has over 20 showing rooms featuring artefacts, furniture and sculptures from ancient and modern times as well as famous paintings. A major landmark is the town’s well known Canal Bridge and the Canal des Deux Mers which connects the Mediterranean and Atlantic Seas. Other sights include the castle of Henry IV, the Bonaguil Castle, the Dukes Castle and the Fortified Mill of Henry IV. Agen’s nightlife is very intense with many music bars, discotheques and two cinemas. The town has four theatres including the magnificent Theatre Ducourneau and the Théâtre du Courneau which have entertaining cultural performances and shows on a regular basis. The arts cinema in the town organises enjoyable film festivals each year which are well attended. Agen has many modern facilities for business events. The Prune Spitters festival in July, the tennis tournament Walibi Acquitaine in April and the annual Fontirou Caves from May to September should not be missed.
