The 15th century Bhadra Fort is a major attraction. This monumental landmark consists of a lovely palace, a lush garden and the Bhadrakali Temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess, Bhadra. Other important monuments include the Dada Hari Vav and the Teen Darwaza. Science City is a very interesting site as well. Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Museum has some exceptional art exhibits and the Hathisingh Jain Temple boasts a fine architectural complex.

For sightseeing and recreation, Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad is an attractive 15th century lake with an island garden in its centre which houses a summer palace known as Nagina Wad. It also features a musical fountain show. The Chandola Lake is another splendid place for picnics and relaxation. A number of exciting events are kept in the city regularly, chief among them being the January Kite Festival and the Navratri Festival dedicated to the goddess, Shakti. This is a very colorful and entertaining event featuring many cultural performances such as folk dances and songs. The Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary and the Shank Water Park just a few km away from the town, offer a number of enjoyable activities for the entire family.
