or Amorgos accommodation? Amorgos is an island with crystal clear water and a peaceful elegant atmosphere. Once only visited by the occasional backpacker, Amorgos has become quite a "trendy" island. Even though it's a very small island, there are quite a few things to see. Before getting its current name, Amorgos was called Minoa, which indicates that the Minoan, Cretan, civilization once had a foothold here. Swimmers will be delighted by the superb beaches to be found in the vicinity. The whitewashed houses in the capital, Hora or Amorgos, spread out beneath the Venetian castle which stands on the peck of the hill. There are also still ruins from classical and Roman times. There are various things to do when visiting the island, the snorkeling in Amorgos is great, especially at Mourou but also at Agia Anna. You are able to enjoy long walks through the harsh but impressive nature. Many people like fishing here and there are various donkey rides offered. You won't find a wealth of big luxury hotels on Amorgos but there are a few small hotels and a lot of rooms in the two ports of Katapola and Aegiali. The island's capital Hora has no hotels but there are a handful of rooms at Maria Economidou's and the luxurious Aegialis Hotel. - Browse the Amorgos Map or compare Amorgos accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
